3. Set up a IT facilities center to help companies looking to establish base in Vellore. VIT can play a major role in this.

a. Soft landing option for companies by providing office infrastructure and initial guidance for setting up base here. 

b. A forum for IT companies in the district to meet and discuss development issues

c. Co-ordinating with government departments to make funds available to entrepreneurs. 

4. Identify unique selling points of Vellore district to promote as an IT destination. 

a. Information Technology needs of industry in the district should be identified and served. Leather sector, Self Help Groups, Educational Institutions can be the target markets

b. Focus on encouraging and facilitating small companies. Set a target of setting up 500 small companies in the city in 5 years time. 

c. Set up the IT SEZ targetting small and medium companies. 

5. A supportive and encouraging government policy is to be prepared and implemented. 

a. Provide recognition to small companies to enable them compete globally.

b. Create an IT division in the District Industrial Center to provide guidance and support with available schemes

c. Encourage new initiatives in the sector through industry forums. 

d. Establish a technology business incubation center by the municipal government (similar to VIT technology incubator)
